Rest

Just Keep Breathing

Just Keep Breathing
I disappeared.
For several days, I went into my room, covered up in warm blankets and hid.
Partly because my HVAC was frozen and my house was cold.
Partly because my van was dead I could not go anywhere.
Mostly because my heart was broken and I could not put one foot in front of the other.
Life is hard.
Trauma is real.
Some days, I get up and fight back by reading the Bible, praying, listening to worship music, reaching out to friends, making healthy foods, taking my supplements, and doing Pilates.
Other days, I lay in bed under a fleece blanket, sandwiched between two sweet pups and binge watch Hulu.
And, I do not feel guilty about that.
Not one bit.
If I had been in a car crash, and sustained horrific injuries, it would be perfectly acceptable to rest and heal.
I was in a mental crash, a collision that shook me to the core, and it was perfectly acceptable to rest and heal.
Let's give ourselves GRACE, y'all.
The past year of life has been BRUTAL...for EVERYONE.
There is not person who is untouched by the effects of 2020-2021.
Rest.
Heal.
Binge watch your favorite show.
JUST KEEP BREATHING.

Healing Takes Time

Healing Takes Time
It’s no wonder so many sick people stay sick and never experience wellness.

To heal completely (physically, mentally, emotionally) requires time.

We must stop.

Rest.

Prioritize.

Regroup.

Unplug.

Healing is a process that takes time.

It also takes measurable moments (hours, days, weeks and years) of time.

Researching treatment options, scheduling appointments, traveling, waiting in an office, phone calls, follow up, changing treatment courses, repeat...

Friend, take the time now to find your healing.

Do not put it off another moment.

You are worth the investment of time and resources needed to experience the fullness of life you were created for.

The same energy you would give to your child, spouse, or friend who is ill?

Give that to yourself!

My Story

Held & Healed.

I have always had a sense of Jesus' presence in my life and have felt held by Him.

Healed is what I will be when I meet Him face to face.

The here and the now is the "&," as I am learning, healing, and growing every day.

I am a survivor of abuse of every kind, in childhood and adulthood.

In 2015, I was stricken with a mysterious and terrifying virus that "woke up" many other viruses in my body.

Since that time, I have been fiercely fighting for my healing and the healing of others.

I was also diagnosed with c-PTSD, as a result of lifelong trauma and abuse.

As I began to search for healing resources for myself, I knew that this journey wasn't just about me.

I created a group, Held & Healed: Christian Women Rebuilding After Abuse, which has grown to almost 4,000 members.

I launched the Held & Healed podcast which is a resource of resources.

If you are a Christian woman who is rebuilding your life after abuse, I invite you to join me on this healing journey.
